About the Author

Enrique Serna nacio en la ciudad de Mexico en 1959. Estudio Letras Hispanicas en la UNAM. Antes de poder dedicarse de lleno a las letras fue publicista de cine, argumentista de telenovelas y biografo de idolos populares. Ha publicado las novelas Senorita Mexico, Uno sonaba que era rey, El miedo a los animales, El seductor de la patria (Premio Mazatlan de Literatura), Angeles del abismo (Premio de Narrativa Colima), Fruta verde, La sangre erguida (Premio Antonin Artaud) y La doble vida de Jesus. Sus cuentos, reunidos en los libros Amores de segunda mano, El orgasmografo y La ternura canibal, figuran en las principales antologias de cuento mexicano publicadas dentro y fuera de su pais. En 2003, Gabriel Garcia Marquez lo incluyo en una antologia de sus cuentistas mexicanos favoritos publicada por la revista Cambio. Como ensayista, Serna ha publicado tres libros que dialogan con su obra narrativa y la complementan en el terreno de las ideas: Las caricaturas me hacen llorar, Giros negros y Genealogia de la soberbia intelectual. / Enrique Serna was born in Mexico City in 1959. He studied Spanish Literature at UNAM. Before devoting himself fully to literature he was film publicist, scriptwriter of soap operas and biographer of popular idols. He has published the novels Miss Mexico, One dreamed that he was King, The fear of animals, the seducer of the motherland (Mazatlan Literature Award), Angels of the abyss (Narrative Award Colima), Green fruit, Upright Blood (Antonin Artaud Award) and The double life of Jesus. His stories, gathered in the secondhand books, The Orgasmographer and the Cannibal Tenderness, are contained in the main Mexican story anthologies published inside and outside his country. In 2003, Gabriel Garcia Marquez included it in an anthology of his favorite Mexican Short Stories published by the magazine Cambio. As an essayist, Serna has published three books that create a dialogue with their narrative and complement each other in the realm of ideas: Cartoons make me mourn, Black Spins and Genealogy of intellectual pride."
