Synopsis

Decoding the Musical Signatures of Sri Guru Granth Sahib brings together a curated collection of papers presented at the International Kirtan Conference held from 22-24 October 2024 at Punjabi University, Patiala, Punjab. Organized by the Nād Music Institute (USA) in collaboration with the Bhai Vir Singh Chair, Punjabi University, this landmark conference convened scholars, musicians, theologians, and practitioners from around the world to examine the spiritual, interpretive, and musical foundations of Sikh traditions. Across three enriching days, 25 presenters representing six countries offered diverse perspectives-ranging from in-depth theoretical analyses of the musical signatures of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib to innovative approaches that leverage emerging technologies for learning and teaching Gurbani Kirtan in the 21st century. This volume captures those insights, contributing to a deeper understanding of the sonic, pedagogical, and devotional dimensions of Sikh sacred music.
