About the Author

Victor-Marie Hugo was a prominent French author, poet, essayist, playwright, and politician. Born on February 26, 1802, in Besan on, France, Hugo became one of the most important figures in French literature and a leading figure in the Romantic movement. His career spanned over six decades, during which he wrote numerous works in various genres. Hugo is best known for his novels Les Mis rables and The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, which have become staples in world literature.
