My name is Angelo, I was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. I was the child of a schizoaffective abusive mother and a father who I never met. I endured homelessness at the age of 6 for the first time and spent most of my childhood bouncing from floor to floor and car with my mother until I was 11 when I was rehomed for the first time with my step father. At 15 I was placed under guardianship of an aunt/uncle and their family after briefly being placed in child haven after returning to my mother at 14. I grew up involved in a series of violence, loss, suicidal ideation and addiction as a teenager. At 19 I decided to put effort into changing my trajectory, that involved distancing myself from the last of my living friends, psychedelic experimentation, and struggles as I dealt with a myriad of mental health, financial, and emotional struggles throughout my 20's. I am currently 26 and still pursuing a better future and environment for myself and those around me and working on a self employed career in finance. I spend my days soothing myself when I can with art, poetry, exercise and the little joys in life. I spend most of my time writing my poetry at Grouchy John's coffee shop here in Las Vegas and I hope my poetry is able to resonate with those who have also endured hardships sometimes too difficult to articulate, those striving for a better future for themselves and their communities, and just those who enjoy art, poetry, and literature.
