About the Author

Akila Kannadasan is a journalist with The Hindu with 14 years of experience in feature writing. Born and raised in Coimbatore, she has reported extensively from Chennai, with career-defining work on the city’s fishing community. Her first book, Seaside Stories (2023), is a compilation of essays on Chennai’s fisherfolk. A mother of two, she ventured into children’s writing as their primary storyteller, and is also working on two novels and a biography of a Dalit leader.
