English educator Samuel Wilderspin, who was recognized for his innovative work on baby schools, was born in Hornsey, Wakefield, on March 23, 1791, and died in 1866. A child should be encouraged to learn via experience and to develop both emotionally and intellectually, in his or her opinion. His work served as the blueprint for baby schools in North America and Europe. In the London neighborhood of Hornsey, Wilderspin was created as an only kid. Born from a Christian family, Wilderspin asserted that it was his own observation and intuition, not the influence of his parents, that led him to see the existence of a greater being who was "a Maker, a Governor, and Protector of this world". Based on his experiences at Spitalfields, Wilderspin wrote On the Importance of Educating the Infant Poor in 1823. The following year, he started working for the Infant School Society and sharing his ideas about education with others. Although it failed in 1828, Wilderspin persisted in spreading his ideas around the country. "The Infant System, for developing the physical, intellectual, and moral powers off all children from 1 to 7 years of age" was written by Samuel Wilderspin.
