Synopsis

""How can we claim to ponder human existence? It is an overwhelming task, a burden we bear most often in silence and judgment-driven fear. Often we think: "Do other people ask the question-why?" Our lives are short, and memories shorter, drawn into existence by forces we have yet to understand. Time passes us by and slips away, never to be reclaimed. Science fails to quantify meaning, and sometimes, most times, we are lost within ourselves. The pieces of the puzzle do not always fall into place. Driven from all sides by unseen determinants, our forward motion becomes inevitable, unstoppable, the only constant in our small, uncertain consciousness. We search, as humans alone are able, for answers in the vast unknown. From the unforgiving floods of anxiety, grief, and passion that both terrify and inspire in equal measure, to the doldrums-esque state of depression and dissociation wherein thought and action are hardly an escape, Alias Reve's debut poetry collection Fears & Revelations navigates almost the full spectrum of human emotion through poetic existentialism. Fears & Revelations seeks to conquer irony and reconcile juxtapositions, asks more questions than it answers, and challenges us to use our deepest fears to better understand ourselves and the ever-changing world around us. Reve's poetry reminds us that knowledge itself is fraught with uncertainties; within all spirituality lies an element of disbelief; doubt arrays itself with possibilities of hope. "I thought to kill you, pull your threads and choke out your coherent agony, the will, the want that will not be contained; the Thanatos of you that dares to live."""
