The raison d'être of the book is to examine the problem of enforcement of human rights. A legal right must have a remedy in the event of its breach-Ubi jus ibi remedium. Human rights are no exception to this rule. An attempt has been made in the pages that follow, to examine the enforcement mechanism of human rights. A special mention has also been made of the regional machinery that has come into existence. This book examines human rights under the Indian Constitution and the related Acts in the light of standards outlined in various International Instruments. The book also focuses on the National Human Rights Commission and its reports since its inception; further, it would not be wrong to say that the book is an indispensable guide to law students, law teachers, advocates, social workers and activists.
