Synopsis
INTRODUCTION
This chapter presents a brief description of important terms and key
concepts used in our research. Section 1.1 introduces the basic concept of
wireless sensor networks. Section 1.2 and 1.3 introduces the basic
components of wireless sensor networks and their applications. Section1.4
discuss the energy issues in wireless sensor networks. Section 1.5 and
1.6 describes a few important energy-efficient data acquisition and data
reduction techniques used in wireless sensor networks. Sections 1.7, 1.8 and
1.9 introduce the necessary background, problem statement, and proposed
solution respectively. Finally, section 1.10 presents the thesis organization.
