Food processing is the world's largest industry with an output valued at US$ 1,500 billion. Inspite of this relatively little foreign direct investment goes into this industry in developing countries. This new study looks into the reasons for this. Drawing on case study evidence from India and China possibilities for increased investment are explored and specific activities within the industry that may be of interest to potential foreign investors are presented.
