About the Author

Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) was a Czech painter, illustrator, and graphic artist who lived and worked in fin de siecle Paris. He was widely known for his distinctive advertising illustrations and his sinuous compositions became synonymous with late 19th-century Paris and the art nouveau movement. His illustrations, advertisements, and decorative panels remain some of the most popular art from the period.
