Synopsis
Agda Holst var en egensinnig konstnär som hela sitt lv arbetade och levde i Kristianstad. Undantag var när hon studerade måleri i Paris, Tyskland eller Köpenhamn. Hon var tidig i sina motiv och hade konstnärsvänner, både kvinnor och män i olika länder. Birgit Rausing skildrar ingående hennes konstnärskap och hur hon hela livet kände en stark lojalitet med modern och den mycket yngre brodern. Hon var även modern behjälplig i textilaffären som försörjde den lilla familjen. Agda förblev singel hela livet, vilket inte innebar att hon saknade ett spännande socialt umgänge. Hennes måleri är både sparsmakat och färgrikt på samma gång. Hon målade många fina porträtt, både av sig själv och andra. Birgit Rausing ät konstkritiker och författare till en rad lovordade böcker om kvinnliga konstnärer från 1900-talet samt andra om bl a sin far, konstnären Henry Mayne och om Rilke.
