Cynthia A. Lassonde is Assistant Professor of Elementary Education and Reading at the State University of New York College at Oneonta. She received her Ph.D. in philosophy of education from the State University of New York at Albany. A former elementary teacher and teacher researcher, her research interests include the teaching of writing and critical inquiry pedagogy. She has authored numerous articles in professional education journals such as Language Arts, Literacy Teaching and Learning, Support for Learning, and Youth and Society, many of which are products of teacher research in her elementary and college classrooms. She is editor of the New York Association of Colleges for Teacher Education's journal Excelsior: Leadership in Teaching and Learning and Chair of the Teacher as Researcher subcommittee of the International Reading Association.
