Synopsis
This text describes the activities of current cancer research projects as well as the strengths and weaknesses within the specific domains of basic research, clinical research and screening, chemoprevention and epidemiological research. These reflections therefore bring together the experiences from different scientific and biomedical research teams and from most of the national cancer research organizations of the European Union who are also involved in the BIOMED programme. The purpose of the book is to serve as a scientific report on the ongoing activities in cancer research within the Biomedical and Health Research programme (1990-1994) and research priorities as perceived by the participants at the meeting, "Cancer Research at the European Level", organized by the Commission services.
