Synopsis
The Netherlands is well known for its activities in creating new land. During recent decades, there has been a growing interest in nature engineering by the Netherlands Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management and expertise has been gathered on what is feasible and how nature engineering can be applied in civil engineering projects. This work presents this expertise in nine papers on the relation between nature engineering and projects of civil engineering. It should be of interest to anyone involved in adapting civil engineering to nature, either as a policy-maker or as a practising engineer.
