This book (catalogue of the Venice exhibition) illustrates the original creativity, the great versatility and the absolute contemporaneity of the Capucci universe, the only fashion designer invited to exhibit clothes that have become part of the history of international art in the world's leading museums. Capucci's work is marked by elaborately constructed garments that are reminiscent of fashions from earlier times, but which still remain very modern. He employs a lot of brocade and ornamentation and his garments use a great deal of structure, with some dresses seeming to have wings or headdresses. He is perhaps best known for his signature use of folds. Some dresses look like origami because of the their intensely folded construction, while others look like finely accordioned crepe paper. Fan shapes predominate and many of his incredibly inventive creations, looking like they have unfolded before our eyes, have been called sculptures in fabric.
This small, attractive monograph chronicles the recent retrospective exhibition and includes beautiful photographs of his creations in the exhibition settings, sketches and writings from Capucci himself, photographs of the designer at work, and examples of his designs from all phases of his career."About this title" may belong to another edition of this title.

About the book >.>.> The closest female followers of fashion have spoken of Roberto Capucci as removing dothes from the "tyranny of the body" of the body being made grometric and "only used as a support for his works." The opposite. apparently, of the lines, cuts and forms used to exalt the body. But perhaps one should use the eyes of a man to look at Capucci's dothes, at his "fans," his "overlays," his "petals" and his Baroque triumphs to understand the extent to which the creativity of this designer has not been distanced from an amorous idea of the female body. Capucci considers a dress "a habitat of fabrics, an ornate form and a cave to live in." This is the least abstract concept of fashion possible because designing a "habitat" presupposes having a deep knowledge of the person who must live there, of her way of moving and living, "I create for women, not for mannequins," said Capucci. "This reputation for abstractness, lines and forms for their own sake. Seller Inventory # Batch-FM310-VG-7673
