Synopsis
Venice, in particular the island of Murano, has been the leading centre of glassmaking since the 13th century and the work of Venetian designers of all periods is avidly collected. This lavishly illustrated volume explores the development of Venetian glass from 1890 to 1990 and the influence of artistic movements such as the Vienna Secession, Art Deco and Modernism. Over 200 photographs show key examples by the greatest names of the Murano industry and include rare pieces from private collections.
