"The infestation" is, on the one hand, the detailed life story of Daniel Steinknecht, who fails due to the constraints of the Catholic professional world and increasingly mentally illness, on the other hand a piece of South Tyrolean history of the 20th century. Born in an Isarco mountain village, Daniel visits a Catholic boys' boarding school and studies theology in Trento. Used in various parishes, he is visibly worn down, feels like his name patron pursued and is finally pushed into a retirement home as a chaplain. Konrad Rabensteiner speaks unadorned of his fate, of the bias of his family and thus draws the portrait of a whole generation.
