A special occasion to get close to the works of Francis Bacon and gain an overall understanding of his artistic development. Published for the exhibition in Milan between 4 March and 29 June 2008, this catalogue offers a selection of some sixty works by Bacon, beginning with his first paintings from the 1930s, which reveal how early he was attracted to a figure's deformation and ambiguity, to the late triptychs, especially those dedicated to John Edwards, in which the artist's existential torment seems to move towards a suffered serenity.
