Synopsis
Catalogue of the show put on at the Strozzi Palace in Florence between 10th June and 10th September 2000. This great anthology of Pietro Annigoni's work appears seventy years after his first exhibition and contains over 150 paintings and 50 studies, lithographs, etchings, illustrated books and documents from private and public collections. The material reproduced and exhibited in this volume follows every turn of the artist's creative itinerary. It offers an evaluation of this talented painter, who was born into a century of great revolution and controversy: it takes stock of an artist whose unique technical abilities allowed him to realise a host of monumental works, rare in their effectiveness and ranging from painting to sculpture, from fresco to engraving.
