Synopsis
The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, boasts one of the most important collections of 20thC American art in the world. This catalogue accompanies the exhibition held in Milan in 2002 of which the museum lent many examples from its collection. The exhibition covered American realism, pop art, abstract expressionism and "graffiti art". The catalogue includes a long essay outlining the history of the Whitney Museum. A critical essay by Francesco Tedeschi and writings by the artists exhibited are included.
