9788836637607: The End of Utopia: Jacob Hashimoto, Stefano Moriggi

Synopsis

Jacob Hashimoto and Emil Lukas have been asked to meditate on the idea of the end of Utopia through a series of site-specific works hosted by Palazzo Flangini in Venice. Decades of environmental exploitation have left humanity dangerously tottering on all fronts, from politics to society, economics, nature, technology, and ecology. Everything that has been planned by humanity in order to gain a utopia – whether algorithms, systems or infrastructures – now seems to have lost its value. In this context art too changes its meaning. The works by these American artists, now documented in these pages, offer a new stimulus for thinking about this theme.
