9788836625635: Angelo Savelli: the Master of White

Synopsis

Angelo Savelli (1911-1995) is one of the most representative and emblematic artists in the collection of the Biscozzi | Rimbaud Foundation in Lecce (Salento, Italy). Being a southern man, he was deeply set in his origin, but he projected his life and career beyond the regional and national borders, moving first to Paris and then to New York. Savelli is famous for his “white”, but he underwent a gradual change aiming to constantly reach new further destinations. The volume contains 23 important works dating from 1947 to 1981, which cover almost the entire chronological period of Angelo Savelli’s artistic production, with the evolution from figurative to abstract art, from non-representational to rarefaction of “white works”, which then became a paradigmatic and typical feature.
