Juan Rod�s was a friendly, modest, straightforward person, as well as a great doctor whose calling was medicine and science. Much loved by his patients, Dr. Rod�s was also a genuine visionary and leader. He overhauled the structure of Hospital Cl�nic in Barcelona and set up its Hepatology Department, organized and strengthened its biomedical research capacity, established Fundaci�n Cl�nic and IDIBAPS, and helped build the repute of the University of Barcelona Medical School. Rod�s was also a trusted advisor to countless public and private institutions. This book brings together 50 testimonials to his life and work some more institutional and others more personal in nature. For all of us who had the honor and privilege of knowing and working with Juan Rod�s, this is no more than a simple and deserved tribute: he enjoyed life in all its facets, was respected while he lived and will be remembered always with affection and admiration.
