About the Author

William Goldman (1931-2018) fue novelista, dramaturgo y guionista, labor por la que recibió dos premios Oscar: al mejor guion original, por Dos hombres y un destino, y al mejor guion adaptado, por Todos los hombres del presidente. También ganó dos premios Edgar al mejor guion de película, concedidos por la asociación Mystery Writers of America, por Harper, en 1967, y por Magic, en 1979, este último adaptado de una novela que él mismo había escrito en 1976.

Inicialmente no tenía intención de convertirse en guionista. Lo que más le interesaba era la poesía, el relato breve y la novela.

William Goldman publicó cinco novelas y tres de sus obras de teatro se produjeron en Broadway antes de que empezara a escribir guiones. Hasta la muerte de su primer agente escribió casi exclusivamente narrativa literaria, pero a partir de entonces empezó a escribir thrillers, el primero de los cuales fue Marathon Man.
