Synopsis

It's a collection of stories where most of the characters are animals such as Shere Khan the tiger and Baloo the bear, though a principal character is the boy or man-cub Mowgli, who is raised in the jungle by wolves.

About the Author
Rudyard Kipling (Bombay, 1865-Londres, 1936) creció en un ambiente exótico y diverso hasta la edad de seis años, cuando sus padres lo enviaron a estudiar a Inglaterra. Volvió a su país natal, la India, en 1882 para convertirse en periodista y colaborar en varios periódicos nacionales. También comenzó a escribir poemas, relatos y novelas. Entre 1894 y 1895 publicó El libro de la selva con ilustraciones de su padre, profesor de arte, al que seguirían Capitanes intrépidos (1897) y Kim (1901). Su capacidad de observación, la originalidad de su imaginativa, la fuerza de sus ideas y el talento para contar historias le valieron el Premio Nobel de Literatura con tan solo 41 años (1907). Todavía hoy es el autor más joven que haya conseguido tal reconocimiento.
