Synopsis
After a lifetime associated with the Prussian army, Carl von Clausewitz (1780-1831) wrote a treatise that forever changed the art of war. In his view, war and politics go hand in hand: the warlike spirit is born from the ideas and sentiments of a territory, and battles, therefore, must be placed within a logical and historical framework. These postulates led to a shift that made On War a crucial title in the history of thought. This edition offers a selection of this work, publishing books I-III and VIII in their entirety and in a scrupulous translation by Carlos Fortea, directly translated by the author.

About the Author
Carl von Clausewitz (1780-1831), who entered the military career at a very young age, accumulated a wealth of experience serving in the Prussian and Russian armies. A self-taught thinker, his life was that of a soldier and was deeply marked by the adventures of the Napoleonic Wars. After being defeated at Jena and taken prisoner by Napoleon, he later contributed to his defeat at Waterloo in 1818. Promoted to general and appointed director general of the Prussian Military Academy in Berlin, he was able to devote time to his reflections on the nature of war. His notes were published posthumously in On War, now a classic of the philosophy of warfare. Barcelona 1971. I am an artist who combines different angles, from which I develop a narrative, a space-time with its own voice and form on each occasion. Drawing, film, comics, painting, music, and performance unfold or merge to varying degrees in each project, serving to communicate a journey, tell a story. My path as a creator began with the written word and progressed naturally toward all these disciplines, which today are my construction tools. In parallel, and often alongside my work, I greatly enjoy the role of teacher and artistic mediator. Employing and offering all these tools and strategies in this field, this time at the service of the people who approach me and ask me to accompany them.
