The textbook gives you a lot of examples on how questions and answers in Russian dialogue should be formed. It is easy to see the difference between Russian and English by using the parallel translation. Common questions and answers used in everyday situations are explained simply enough even for beginners. Some sayings and jokes make it engaging despite six cases that make Russian a little difficult for some students. Categorized vocabulary list of the 1300 important Russian words, aids in word choice and usage. With the translation on the same page, you can effortlessly learn what any unfamiliar words mean. You can quickly pick up new vocabulary and phrases that are used over and over in the book. As you read the book, your brain begins to remember words and phrases simply because you are exposed to them several times. You don't even realize, until you have to recall what you've learned, that you have already learned the new words and phrases. The audio tracks are available inclusive online. With the help of QR codes, call up an audio file without manually entering web addresses. This book has already helped a lot people to discover their true language potential. The best way to learn any language is to emerge yourself and read. This book does just that. It gives you all the words you will encounter in the paragraphs to come and then, you read. I also like that there is a link to go to a website where the paragraphs are also read so you can hear what each word sounds like. I've taken Russian for over a year via a phone app, which just teaches words. But learning sentences and how each word relates to the other is how you learn. Great book.
This has been a wonderful book for learning Russian. It is probably too advanced for a new beginner. I'd place myself in advanced beginner/intermediate level for reading in Russian. It is interesting and practical with a paragraph or two on a subject regarding ordinary life (commuting to work, what the apartment looks like, daily routine, etc), translated into English, followed by questions and answers regarding the paragraph. There are jokes, proverbs and short lessons on grammar.
