Synopsis

"Waiting for a Visa" is a poignant and autobiographical essay by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, in which he narrates his personal experiences with discrimination and social injustice. The essay describes an incident from his life when he was in the United States for higher studies and was waiting for a visa. During this period, he faced the harsh realities of racial and social discrimination.

In the essay, Ambedkar reflects on the difficulties he encountered as a member of the lower caste in India, and how even in a foreign land, he was subjected to untouchability and racial prejudice. He uses this experience to highlight the oppressive nature of the caste system in India and the dehumanization that marginalized communities faced.

"Waiting for a Visa" serves as a powerful critique of caste-based discrimination and sheds light on Ambedkar's personal struggles, which inspired his lifelong fight for social justice and equality. It is an important piece of writing that highlights the intersection of social inequality, race, and personal resilience.
