An assessment has been attempted by the author in this work about the present status of knowledge Management for Indian Commercial Banking Sector by studying their structural, operational, technological, and administrative processes, and variegated products and services provided by them to their clientele. The findings so arrived have further been analyzed critically with a view to recommend the necessary framework for a ongoing effective knowledge Management System for this Sector. Major issues addressed being: Evaluating the technical efficiency with the help of growth productivity and profitability indicators Role of information system in knowledge Management. Integration of ‘Knowledge Strategy’ in the ‘Business Strategy’ and ‘Knowledge Initiatives. Managing Human Resource for an Effective Knowledge Management. About The Author: Dr. O.P. Goyal, is Professor of Management at the University School of Management Studies, Indraprastha University, Delhi. He has been teaching and doing research for the last more than four decades in the discipline of management in general, and with reference to Indian Financial Institutions, in particular. Prof. Goyal has been a prolific writer and his research papers have been published in national and international journals of repute. To his credit are further found several published research monographs. Important among these include: Financial Institutions and Economic Growth of India (1979); Convertible Debentures/Bonds: Experience of Indian Corporate Sector (1989); ands Employment, Production and Income (1993). Aside these Monographs, Prof. Goyal has also edited several other titles such as, ‘Strategic Management and Policy Issues of NGOs’ (2004); ‘Role of NGOs in Development of Social System’ (2004), ‘Understanding and Scouting with Physically Handicapped’ (2005) and ‘Anti Social Patterns of Begging and Beggers’ (2005).
