About the Author

Dr. Anita Khokhar completed her MD in Preventive and Social Medicine from Maulana Azad Medical College, in 1998 and then she did three years residency at Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi. Currently she is working as an Associate Professor Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjang Hospital. She started her work in the field of preventive oncology that is early detection of the breast cancer soon after seeing that more and more number of young women in their thirties were becoming victims of breast cancer. It was the urge to do something for the community and to bring a very sensitive issue to the forefront that motivated her to start breast cancer awareness and early detection initiative. Over the years a number of breast conditions have been diagnosed and interventions done by her. It has been more about empowering women for the rest of their lives as the health care infrastructure of India cannot afford to provide mammogram facility for the purpose of screening to all. Now, she is in the process of making more and more number of women breast aware and taking the initiative ahead.
