Ramaswamy Naicker, who was an advocate of abolition of the caste system and ended the dominance of Brahmins in Tamil society. During this period, three members of the author's family, his father and two cousins,eft Tamil Nadu to find better job opportunities in Calcutta. About the Author

R. Gopalakrishnan studied at St. Xavier's College in Calcutta. He did his engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. After this, he did an advanced Management Program from Harvard University, United States of America.
