It also attempts to tie together the circuit and field viewpoint through extensive use of transmissions line analogy. Practical concepts of energy transfer in fields are emphasized by the use of exponentials and the reflection factor, rather than the hyperbolic form so that the student has before him the expressions for the incident and the reflected waves. In addition, the exponential form leads to more rapid computation with complex angles. An expanded, up-to-date revision of a widely used textbook, featuring an abundance of new material, including coverage of the power operations of the line.
