Synopsis
董必武，"延安五老"之一，是早期中国共产党的老一辈革命家。他1903年考取晚清秀才，早年参加同盟会。1920年在武汉建立共产主义小组，并出席1921年的中共一大，是中华人民共和国的开国元勋。
董老与夫人何连芝育有一女二男，同时抚养教育了多名侄女、侄孙等后辈，本书中的多数书信即是董老写给子女和后辈的家书，主要是对子女后辈的教育开导，鼓励他们艰苦奋斗、勤俭做人，体现了老一辈革命家严于律己、以身作则的优良作风，为后人树立了榜样。书中穿插多幅董老与家人的珍贵照片及董老的墨迹，图文并茂，呈现了大时代背景下一个家庭变迁的侧面。
