Synopsis
清末民初文献丛刊（影印本）：古有先秦诸子百家争鸣，近有民国大师百花齐放，西学东渐东西交融，尽享思想学术文化盛宴。1885年，张荫桓以公使身份出使美国、西班牙、秘鲁三国，处理美国排华问题，办理华工被害各案交涉事宜， 张荫桓在出使三国驻外大臣近6年期间，所撰写的一部日记——《三洲日记》。1885年和1886年春，美国人想方设法驱赶中国商人和劳工，甚至炸陷，由于张荫桓外交交涉的结果，使得1886年2月以后，美国迫害华人有所收敛。日记中除了对当时多起美国排华案件始末的记述外，还对其对外交涉活动、参观游历、往来公私文牍均有记述。此外记载并分析其所认知的西方政治经济文化教育等制度的利弊，以及对中西文化进行对比后的对本国制度的审视与反思，对西方文化的宽容心态，在一定程度上反映出作者认识和学习西方社会制度的心路历程。
