"Guarding the Homeland, Tracing the Silk Road" ? a collection of Silk Road landscape ink paintings by the contemporary Chinese artist Zhou Jianpeng, edited by You Qingqiao and published by Cultural Relics Press, one of China's foremost publishers for art, archaeology, and cultural heritage titles. The volume reproduces Zhou's ink-and-wash landscape paintings inspired by his travels along this route, blending traditional shan shui (mountain-water) painting technique with Silk Road subject matter ? caravan routes, desert monasteries, and ancient watchtowers. This copy additionally carries a handwritten inscription/dedication on the title leaf, dated to the jihai year and referencing the Nanxi Academy, making it an artist- or institution-associated presentation copy rather than a plain retail copy. Hardcover. Condition: As New. Quarter-bound in dark sage-green cloth boards with the title gilt-stamped vertically on the spine, with publisher's device also gilt-stamped at the foot of the spine. The cloth spine has no rubbing, bumping, or fading, and the corners are sharp and unworn throughout. The pictorial front-board image is pristine. Text block and page edges are clean, square, and have no foxing, tanning, or staining. The interior carries a handwritten ink inscription in Chinese on the title leaf, in lieu of a printed limitation or dedication page ? this is the only mark of use in the book; otherwise the interior plates and text pages show no foxing, creasing, or handling wear.
