This work concerns the georeferencing of rural properties and its importance in property registration. Law 10.267 requires that all rural properties present the coordinates of the vertices defining their boundaries georeferenced to the Brazilian Geodetic System. According to the law, the property will be identified based on a descriptive report signed by a qualified professional with the appropriate Technical Responsibility Note (ART), who is responsible for preparing and executing the survey that will result in the descriptive report. Accordingly, this study will show the possible flaws that occurred in this type of survey and that now, based on the new requirements, this no longer happens, as the INCRA base system and the property registry offices are interacting to prevent these from happening.
