The #EndSARS protest of October 2020 marked a pivotal moment in Nigeria's socio-political landscape, catalyzed by youth-driven mobilization against police brutality and systemic corruption. This study examines the credibility and objectivity of media reports during the protest, focusing on their impact on public perception and understanding. Employing a survey research design targeting residents in Makurdi Local Government, the study evaluates the role of both traditional and social media in shaping narratives around the protest. Findings indicate that media coverage significantly influenced public opinion, awareness, and engagement, with social media emerging as a critical tool for mobilization and citizen journalism. However, concerns about the objectivity and credibility of some media outlets underscore the challenges posed by political interference and misinformation. This research underscores the transformative potential of media in democratic advocacy while highlighting the need for enhanced journalistic integrity to sustain public trust and informed activism.
