In this book, the author presents a bibliographical review of part of the collection that discusses themes pertinent to the construction of sound installations. He briefly relates these contents to the basic notions of Soundscape, Semiotics, Hermeneutics, Psychoacoustics and Spectromorphology. This relationship is intended to provide new theoretical support for practical issues that are fundamental to musical composition and sound art. It also presents works already presented by the author, relating them to works by recognised composers such as Murray Schafer (1933), Hildegard Westerkamp (1946) and Barry Truax (1947). ‘Since the soundscape is the basic element for the composition of my sound installations, I intend to discuss the relevance of the realisation of ‘soundwalks’ in the same environment for the perception of the most diverse acoustic and visual elements belonging to the landscape. From the intensive listening experiences that have emerged in my compositional processes, I share my understanding of sound art and my perception of the influences of landscape transformation on the compositional and installation process’.
