This study examines the perceptions and attitudes of library and information science students towards the cataloguing and classification course in Nigerian universities. A survey was conducted with 95 students from Benue State University, Makurdi and Bayero University, Kano in Nigeria. The results show that while most students recognize the importance of cataloguing and classification skills for their future careers, many find the course challenging and struggle with the technical aspects. Students expressed a desire for more practical training and hands-on experience with cataloguing software and tools. The study also found that students' perceptions were influenced by the teaching methods and expertise of instructors. The paper concludes with recommendations for improving the delivery of the cataloguing and classification curriculum to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
