Abelmoschus esculentus is the only species which is known to be cultivated extensively as commercial vegetable among 34 species of Abelmoschus. For improving the fruit yield in okra, the traits which are exhibiting moderate to high GCV, PCV, high heritability accompanied with high genetic advance and the traits having direct and positive association with fruit yield and yield contributing characters are selected, which indicates the importance of these traits in improvement of fruit yield in okra.
