This paper shows the development of a knowledge-based system called TAXANIV, whose purpose is to support the learning processes associated with the taxonomy of invertebrate animals. The evolutionary development methodology was adopted for this purpose, using the prolog language as the functional mechanism of logic programming, the computational paradigm on which this system is based. The stages carried out during the development process are shown, achieving a functional prototype which allows the realization of basic and specialized queries that the user can make as reinforcement to the learning activity related to the taxonomy of invertebrate animals.
