Affordable housing for all people is one of the important challenges faced by the developing countries. India is currently facing a big shortage house. Out Of which, 95% shortage pertains to houses for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and for Lower-Income Groups (LIG). The objective of this study is to apply value-engineering concept for affordable housing schemes and to achieve housing for all as well as to maintain the quality of house during the cost reduction. This study elaborate the work of determining the objective and scope of the study, literature review, major findings of literature review, study profile, data collection by surveying at two different affordable housing existing site at Surat city as study area, identification of the main critical components for the buildings, a various creative alternatives for various techniques and material. After that by using value engineering concept to evaluation of the valuable solution which fulfill the quality criteria as well as cost reduction for the taken housing project.
