The protection task becomes quite challenging in the presence of compensating devices like STATCOM, which are introduced to improve stability. With the integration of STATCOM in the transmission line, the conventional distance relay maloperates during faults due to the errors introduced in the impedance measurement. Gotte Vikram Raju received M.Tech from NIT(National Institute of Technology) Raipur, in 2017. Ebha Koley received PhD from NIT Raipur in 2015, where she is presently working as assistant professor in electrical engineering department. Her research interest includes power system protection, microgrid and soft computing techniques.
