Depending on the sign of performance feedback, feedback is of two types, positive feedback and negative feedback. This study predominately focused on negative feedback. Negative performance feedback is a kind of feedback which contains critical task-related
information which helps one to find gaps in performance, and thereby, it creates a scope where one's performance can be improved. Studies have found that negative feedback is more beneficial than positive feedback (Finkelstein & Fishbach Hoever, Zhou, & Knippenberg, ). Despite the advantages of negative feedback, the acceptance of the same is low. One reason is possibly the effect of receiving negative feedback on one's self-development indices, and second, the involvement of emotions, more specifically the negative emotions, which further complicates the situation.
