Tenugui, rectangular gauze cloths, usually of cotton, used as handtowels, headgear and coverings, were already in use in the eighth century. Designs used in tenugui are various, in the motif of traditional culture, seasonal festivals, fashion, sports, kabuki and social situation. This book collects 420 well designed works of tenugul produced during the period between 1870s and 1940s.
