Synopsis

"... the empty patchword and that we do not understand at all, and which is the most incomprehensible word in the whole language explained by no previous philosophy ..." (Johann Gottlieb Fichte: Die Wissenschaftslehre 1804) Und im Anfang steht das And. "And ...", you say? What is in an "and"? And when I say "an and", does the conjunction "and" become a name? What is in a name, in that name? And I wonder what a deconstruction can make of such a small and almost insignificant word. A brief afterword by the translator points to the philosophical questionability - and value - of linguistic conjunctions.
