Μέσα από την εμπειρία μου ως νοσηλεύτρια στη φροντίδα ανθρώπων με άνοια, είδα πόσο συχνά οι συγγενείς νιώθουν φόβο, εξάντληση και αβεβαιότητα όταν επιστρέφουν στο σπίτι και καλούνται να φροντίσουν έναν δικό τους άνθρωπο.
Γι' αυτό δημιούργησα αυτόν τον πρακτικό και ανθρώπινο οδηγό. Στόχος μου είναι να προσφέρω κατανοητές πληροφορίες και ουσιαστική στήριξη σε ανθρώπους που δεν έχουν ιατρικές γνώσεις αλλά βρίσκονται καθημερινά δίπλα σε έναν άνθρωπο με άνοια.
Στο βιβλίο θα βρείτε πληροφορίες για τις μορφές και τα στάδια της άνοιας, πρακτικές συμβουλές για την επικοινωνία, τη διαχείριση δύσκολων καταστάσεων, την ασφάλεια στο σπίτι, τη διατροφή και την καθημερινή φροντίδα.
Πάνω απ' όλα όμως, αυτό το βιβλίο είναι μια υπενθύμιση ότι και οι φροντιστές χρειάζονται στήριξη, κατανόηση και φροντίδα.
Γιατί η καλή φροντίδα δεν βασίζεται μόνο στη γνώση. Βασίζεται στην υπομονή, την αξιοπρέπεια και την ανθρώπινη παρουσία.
