Synopsis

When secret agent Verity is caught in enemy territory, in Nazi-occupied France in October 1943, she awaits her worst nightmare. The Gestapo holds her captive in an old hotel and her interrogators threaten her with cruel torture to learn all the information about the British troops and her knowledge of the Allied war effort.

Verity was arrested with the ID papers of her pilot and best friend Maddie. The plane in which they both flew from England to France was damaged on the way, but the spy was able to jump off with her parachute before crashing. Thus, the memory of Maddie and her incomparable friendship becomes the focus of Verity's confession and her moving account of her own past at the same time a kind of farewell letter.

On every new scrap of paper, Verity fights for her life, confronting her beliefs about courage, failure, and her desperate hope of making it home. Will she betray her mission? Will the disclosure of their secrets be enough to perhaps free them? And what is actually true?

Rosa Thormeyer and Nina Gummich read the emotional story about two brave, young women and the dangers of World War II, showing how far true girlfriends go to save each other.
