Synopsis
Somewhere in the middle of the desert, on Route 66 (of course), lies the rundown gas station of old O'Neil. To say that nothing is going on here would still be greatly understated. That changes suddenly when Billy Joe shows up with his gang of motorised desperados. Once a year, "The Leader of the Pack" is determined in a wild, unbridled freestyle race, the boss of automotive outlaws, and the remote area around O'Neil's "Lisa Dora Station" is made for it. The petrol station now becomes a meeting place for speed and tuning fanatics and a magnet for shady shapes, so it does not take long for FBI and TV to join. And in the middle of this highly explosive mixture of adrenaline and gasoline fumes, dust and sweat, O'Neil's daughter Cristal is desperately trying to save what to save, because her father as an old hot rod veteran is on and off to put everything he has left. Einmal im Jahr wird in einem wilden,ungezügelten Freistilrennen 'The Leader of the Pack' ermittelt, der Boss der automobilen Outlaws, und das abgelegene Areal rund um O'Neils 'Lisa Dora Station' ist wie geschaffen dafür. Die Tankstelle wird nun im Nu zum Treffpunkt der Tempo- und Tuningfanatiker und zum Magneten für zwielichtige Gestalten, sodass es nicht lange dauert, bis sich auch FBI und Fernsehen hinzugesellen. Und mittendrin in dieser hochexplosiven Mischung aus Adrenalin und Benzindunst, Staub und Schweiß versucht O'Neils Tochter Cristal verzweifelt zu retten, was zu retten ist, denn ihr Vater als alter Hot-Rod-Veteran ist drauf und dran, alles aufs Spiel zu setzen, was ihm noch geblieben ist.
